Details:
I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight is the debut album of a 17-year-old singer with a lot of personality and style—and a big, warm, open-hearted voice you won’t soon forget.
Martin Bonventre delivers songs from the Great American Songbook with the maturity and confidence of someone twice his age; listen to his sparkling rendition of “It Could Happen To You” and his rueful interpretation of “Just One Of Those Things.”
Bonventre also lends his vocals to selections from what he likes to call the New American Songbook. His fresh new takes on songs from the 1950s to the 1990s are sure to thrill music lovers of all ages; songs written by the likes of Bob Dylan (“I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight”), the Beatles (“I Saw Her Standing There”), and the Beach Boys (“God Only Knows”).
Of course, no album is complete without an original song to spice things up, and Bonventre has recorded two—“Body, Mind And Soul,” and “Jodi”—both of which are an infectious blend of pop, jazz, and R&B, with a riff of rock thrown in.
Though he’s just now a senior at Bronxville High School (Class of ’09) in Bronxville, New York, Bonventre is an outstanding young singer and performer who has already entertained sold-out audiences at New York City clubs, from The Cutting Room to The Triad. He’s spent the last two summers at NYU Cap 21 music theater conservatory, and is prepping new songs for several cabaret performances in the coming months.
