Details:
Guitarist Daniel Boloshy has released a recording that is a deliberate mixture of traditions and styles within four original large-scale guitar compositions. Two are by composer guitarists (Clark Ross and Sergio Assad), and two by composers who were inspired by the guitar but did not play it themselves. As a result, these guitar pieces are challenging in many ways and hopefully showcase the instrument’s finest qualities.
The recording features:
McGillicuddy’s Rant – theme and ten variations by Clark Ross
Sonata III by Manuel Ponce
Sonata Para Guitarra by Antonio José
Aquarelle Suite Pour Guitare by Sergio Assad
Composer Clark Ross said "I was profoundly moved by Daniel Bolshoy ''s performance of McGillicuddy''s Rant; he has a deep understanding of the music, as well as amazing technical proficiency. He is a fantastic musician!”. Sergio Assad comments on Aquarelle Suite Pour Guitarra “This is a great rendition of this piece. The sound is very very good. The playing is highly virtuosic and full of personal touches.”
