Creating music as an ensemble is similar to cooking a stew. Many ingredients are required to produce the taste of each meal. Improvising while cooking can have an unexpected result in flavor and taste. The same is true in music, bringing musicians together with different backgrounds and stirring up the musical elements creates a fusion of melodies, rhythms and beats. This ‘Stew’ is what Invisible Bond desires to produce, a unique and different style of music. Part jam band, part technical, part improvisational and infused with creative nuances, Invisible Bond’s musical chefs continue to meld flavors for your musical appetite.
Let’s look at the ingredients & directions for the “Liberty” CD Stew recipe. A couple of pounds of drums slow cooked to a savory groove. A gallon of bass notes filtered & fried to perfection. Several cups of keyboards sliced, diced and stirred together over a low heat. Add in quartered guitars mixed with herbs and spices. Stir all of these together for a time and then add four packages of sumptuous saxophones and reduce the heat. Prepare a dash of vocals, a pinch of production and a touch of artwork and it is almost ready. Now, set the table, put the “Liberty” CD in the player and begin to enjoy the best musical stew you have ever tasted.
Ladies & Gentlemen our featured performer on the “Liberty” CD is Saxophonist’s Brian D. Counterman. Brian as a composer & vocalist has been pouring his melodic skills and traditional jazz background into the melting pot of Invisible Bond’s musical stew. Brian has four of his composition, “Yesterday Blues,” “Nobody Knows My Problems,” “Spring Motions” & “Silent Friend” cooking on the “Liberty” CD.
Sitting on top of a couple of pounds of drums is Michael Weadick. Michael is a stellar & inventive drummer whose rhythmic finesse adds taste to a variety of beats & grooves.
A spicy bass man, Sammy Hermosillo, marinates his bass lines with a zesty flavor, tenderizing the songs with funk and feeling.
For a taste of sweet, Craig Jackson added a fretless bass line and a beefed up blues tone to compliment the palate of the listener.
Sliced, diced & stirred over a warm fire is surely the best method for creating the complex layered taste of the keyboard sounds served up by Patrick Weadick.
Mixed with herbs & spices, Dave Erickson’s lush chord voicing’s and melodic fingerings add depth to the complex flavor and taste of this musical recipe.
This group of chefs’ (artists) blended a fusion of musical styles from diverse backgrounds and influences to create this musical stew called “Liberty” .
