Details:
Alaskan singer and songwriter Chris Towne recently completed his first album, “Harvard and Delaney” on July 31st of 2008. It was recorded at Surreal Studios in Anchorage, Alaska and produced by Kurt Riemann and Chris Towne. It is a blend of country rock mixed in with some beautiful stripped down folk ballads with one man and one guitar.
“Working with Kurt at Surreal was amazing and I think you will hear it in the songs. I worked with the most professional musicians you could ever ask for on the project.” - Chris Towne
The album consists of twelve songs with one cover song, which is “Nothing “ by Townes Van Zandt. The album has one traditional folk song, “Frankie and Johnny” and an old traditional blues song, “St. James Infirmary Blues” and the rest of the songs are all original. It is an impressive freshmen release for an artist who obviously has seen his share of heartbreak and heartache. The song “What Made You Stop Loving Me” is reminiscent of an old country song sung by someone who has faced his demons head on but still retains the hurt of a broken heart.
“When I went into the studio, we all communicated so well together. It just worked out so perfectly that I was baffled how long it took to teach these guys a song and get it recorded. It was the best experience of my life and now it is a reality with my first thousand copies in hand.” – Chris Towne
Chris plans on hitting the road south out of Alaska at the end of August to tour and promote his new album. His main destination for the winter is Key West, Florida after a few months of living on the road and playing as many gigs as possible. Tour dates and a tour blog will be added to the web page soon so be sure to check back.
May there be peace in the valley for you,
Chris Towne
