Four small town guys with one big dream is the best description for Highspeed Hayride''s passion for music. Highspeed Hayride was established in February 2002 with their debut performance on the Corpus Christi Bay. Through the support of their families, friends, and fans, Highspeed Hayride has brought a new sub- genre of music to the public eye. Dubbed "Southern Country" it''s a show that brings fans of Traditional Country, Texas Country, and Progressive Country together as one.
Highspeed Hayride creates a live show that any Country music fan would enjoy and must experience. Since 2002, they have maintained a vigorous show schedule across Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, Arkansas and beyond. Highspeed Hayride has been billed alongside acts such as Little Texas, Gary P. Nunn, The Bellamy Brothers, Pat Green, Cross Canadian Ragweed, The Randy Rogers Band, Cory Morrow, The Great Divide, Charlie Robison, Kevin Fowler, Roger Creager, Jason Boland & The Stragglers, Reckless Kelly, Cooder Graw, Mike McClure, Jarrod Birmingham and many more country legends.
After almost three years of burning up Texas highways, Highspeed Hayride recorded and released their debut album "Lights of Town" in October of 2004. Featuring singles like: "Texas Women", "Diamond Ring", and "Lights of Town", the album has received air play on radio stations through out Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and New Mexico since its release. In the fall of 2005, "Lights of Town", the title track off the album, was voted the number 1 song on the Texas Music Theater Radio (TMTR) Hot 100 Chart for 6 weeks straight. TMTR is an internet radio station that is heard all around the world.
The band spent the latter part of 2005 in Austin at Cedar Creek Recording Studios with mentor and fellow musician Mike McClure laying down tracks for their sophomore album, "Thought You Should Know" released in June of 2006. McClure, the albums producer, is acknowledged for producing records with Cross Canadian Ragweed and his association with The Great Divide and The Mike McClure Band. The new album features eleven tracks including fan favorites "Only a Dream", "Wasted", "Coming of The Rain", and a new version of the Eddie Rabbit classic "Drivin'' My Life Away". Guest musicians on the record include: Lloyd Maines, pioneer of Texas Music movement and producer extraordinaire, Roger Ray of Jason Boland and The Stragglers, and Cody Braun of Reckless Kelly. The debut single off the new album, "Drivin’ My Life Away", scored critical acclaim and strong chart position as did the follow up single “Get Out Of My Way". 2007 has already been a busy year for Highspeed Hayride, with a successful radio tour across Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Louisiana under their belt to promote the new album and already a healthy list of tour bookings for the rest of the year.
After being nominated for the My Texas Music Horizon Award in 2005 and selected as one of the 5 finalists for the 2006 My Texas Music Live Band of the Year Award, 2007 has been a banner year with a nomination once again for Live Band of the Year and more days on the road than off.
