Harper Tasche has finally made a CD using a regular 36-string harp! "Provenance" features iridescent, all-original works in Harper''s full expressive range: joyous, introspective, stately, humorous, gentle, energetic, poignant, and evocative. Includes two pieces written for a wedding; two pieces commissioned in response to beautiful paintings by Washington artist Ed Edelstein; and a suite of six pieces commissioned in response to exquisite verses by Colorado poet Kate Ellis (included in the 16-page CD booklet).
Guest musician Jami Sieber adds her cello artistry to four tracks as well.
HARPER TASCHE (sounds like "mackintosh") is a leader in the folk harp world, best known for his ground-breaking music with the small harp, the cross-strung harp, and the buzzy bray harp. His music is complex and lyrical, seamlessly weaving together his original compositions with European, Celtic, and Scandinavian repertoire. Harper''s credits include headline performances at major folk harp events across the United States and Canada, over twenty recordings, nine books of harp music, international radio and television broadcasts,
feature film, numerous composition commissions, prize-winning performances in pop & jazz harp and traditional Scottish harp and voice, and the title "Millennium Harper of Washington State" from the Harping for Harmony
Foundation. Raised in Alaska, Harper has lived in the Seattle area since 1991. (He''s also a very nice guy.)
