In 1993, Nashid released his solo blues album Bird in Flight, which pays tribute to his versatility as a performer. In 2003, at the New York International Music Festival, he won the Award for the Best Acoustic Blues act, which granted him the honour of performing at the prestigious Madison Square Garden in New York.
Nashid has won several international and national awards as a solo singer, including the Maldivian Presidents Award for promoting ethnic music and at the Musoz International Competitions. He has also worked with children to promote traditional Maldivian music, as well as performed in several shows promoting and raising awareness over local issues such as thalassaemia. Nashid continues to perform live in various locations around the world such as Australia and the United States.
