A little about me - Rebeeca Albright
My goal: I want to play like heaven on fire, or hell on fire, whichever one comes first that instant.
My personal motto: Always say always and then say always a little bit (or a lot) more than you could ever imagine.
As a child, I was a very intensely trained and disciplined classical pianist and violinist. I played in symphonies, orchestras and quartets constantly.
Although I was slotted for a life of classical peformance, when I became a teenager, I had a burning desire to become a rock n’ roll-jazz-blues musician. Yeah, I wanted to play the lead guitar like Keith Richards. Somehow, through many different phases, I always kept the dream alive. Oh, my first guitar, I bought it for myself for my 16th birthday.
After nearly 20 years of raising three kids alone, I am finally getting there, or getting somewhere, as opposed to everywhere or nowhere.
Their whole lives, my kids were “subjected” to countless Sunday nights of full band rehearsals at the house, as well as hours and hours of me practicing. I played relentlessly, I still do.
My middle child is a killer guitarist, far better than I could ever imagine myself being. I have learned a lot from him. My youngest, my only daughter, sings beautifully. My eldest, he’s a scientific genius crazer.
I am self-taught on the guitar (I barely know the names of the strings or any of the chords I play, actually I am what I am today as a guitarist because I am totally untrained. I ended up interpreting the guitar as a violinist bent on the blues bad with freedom. Playing as a violinist madly in love with her Fender Stratocaster! My voice - untrained.
As far as “songwritering“, well, the songs write themselves. I am like the proverbial Eskimo carving in soapstone,(actually, I am told I am part Eskimo). I listen to what artistry wants to come out and I am the channel for it to express itself. I haven’t tried to write any of these songs. They write themselves and I listen. Actually, all these songs are “Outta Nowhere” and came from dreams.
