“Sentimental Mood” is a collection of Kate Reid’s favorite jazz standards and tunes. She explores the art of phrasing and improvisation while winding her way through the beautiful accompaniment of her trio. Kate sets herself apart from other vocalist/pianists with the use of her wide vocal range and instrumental approach to improvisation with lyrics and syllables. Saxophonist Ernie Watts and guitarist Ron Eschete are featured on this album along with Kate’s regular trio instrumentalists Steve Barnes (drums) and Chris Conner (bass). Her husband, trumpet player Steve Reid, is also featured on two tracks.
