Details:
My name is Ginny Blankenship. I’ve been in music off and on for years and never really thought I could write a song, never gave it too much thought until a few years ago. To Touch the earth was born and then a couple of years later the rest of the songs came about. I’m also an artist, do energy healing work and so my life is quite busy. Some of the songs came about in a long drive across the country. I would carry a small hand recorder and when some words or tunes came to mind I would record it. I have a lot of passion about things I believe in and I wanted to get the message out. I play acoustic bass guitar and used that to get the chords and rhythm of the songs.
All my life I’ve been close to the land. I was raised in the country on a farm, youngest of eight children. There was a lot of commotion with that many siblings and I often found myself retreating to the woods or hiding underneath a big yellow bush. I remember the smell of the earth after a fresh rain and always took note of the bird songs and all God’s creatures. After I married I continued to live in the country and my love continued to grow for this incredible planet. I now have three grown children and two of whom are professional Naturalists. So naturally my education grew as well. It can be quite educational to canoe down the river with not two but three Naturalists ( son in law)accompanying you. I still reside on a farm that has been partially converted into an Environmental learning Center. My daughter and son in law are co-founders of this 501 c3 non-profit learning center, Earth’s Classroom, geared mostly towards children. We have seen nearly 31,000 children so far in the last 7 years. I help with the Native American program with singing, drumming and education on the Native American culture and spiritual beliefs. It is most rewarding to educate children and adults in appreciation of the rich culture that the Natives of this land held dear. A culture and belief system that I too hold dear and have practiced for years.
The first song on the CD, Seminole Wind, I fell in love with the first time I heard it. I connected to it instantly. The second song, Heal with the one you hurt with, is a song that I wrote in hopes of easing the pain that I often see in peoples faces, especially in the healing work that I do. The third song, To Touch the Earth, is the first song that I wrote. In it is a lot heart about my love of this earth and concern for her healing. The fourth song, Mystical Eyes, is about the crystal children and indigo children entering now and their message to the people of the earth. The song was inspired by a book “ Emissaries of Love” written by James Twyman. The first verse I related to my grandson. The fifth song, Golden Eyed brother, is of my love for the wolf and that feeling of connection to all living things. A belief strongly embedded in my soul. The sixth song is one of my favorites as I describe the results of a conversation with an Indian Elder many years ago. The messages are strong. The last song, Running Bear, was a song I fell in love with as a kid on the farm. The song seemed to stir a soul memory, I remember really crying when I would hear it.
I hope you enjoy this CD as much as I enjoyed recording it. It is a dream come true and so far has brought much comfort and inspiration to all those that have purchased a copy. Thank you ahead of time in case you too decide to make this CD a part of your collection. Don’t forget to love the Earth, all it’s creatures and especially yourself.......Ginny Blankenship
