Details:
Gary Foshee is a Singer/Songwriter from the Central Coast of California, truly a lover of wine, women and songs-especially songs! Gary learned to play and sing from watching his Mother, Norma, play and sing in the living room of their home, as well as parties and family gatherings. While in high school, he was recruited to play Bass Guitar in a local country western group led by future country recording artist Art Green, and his brother Marv Green, currently a top-notch songwriter in Nashville. The experience gained from years of playing parties and dances around Santa Barbara County proved to be invaluable, and by his early twenties, Gary turned to performing as a solo singer with a Guitar, while continuing to play Bass with local bands. In the early 90’s, Gary recorded his first album of original songs with a five piece band, but a few months later a storm passing through the area flooded the Santa Barbara studio (two blocks from the beach) where the album was being mixed, and alas, the album became another treasure in the great Pacific Ocean. In the past decade Gary had better luck, releasing a CD with the group Arthur Livingston titled “In my Sleep” (1997), followed by a solo CD “New Moon Maker” (2000). He also composed music for the Santa Ynez High School Theatre Department productions of “The Laramie Project” (2003), “The Circuit” (2005), and “Indians” (2008), as well as placing songs into the documentaries of Santa Barbara artist/filmmaker Ethan Turpin. His current release, “The Color Rose EP” came out of a weekend of recording in February 2007 at the studio of veteran engineer/producer Earle Mankey, the man responsible for the recording of “In my Sleep”, a decade earlier. This weekend recording session yielded a total of twelve songs, and the other seven are currently being mixed by Mr. Mankey for public consumption-that is, another CD! Gary is also the owner of Los Olivos Music Studio, a private teaching facility/recording studio, where he oversees the musical studies of 30 students on a weekly basis, and gives away his tricks-of-the-trade…one at a time!
