Details:
DYLAN OAKLEY is a big city boy with small town dreams now, ruminating in the green pastures of Brooklyn though never far from rockier coasts. After following a voice in his head west, which lead him into studies of philosophy, classical composition and Western African music, then a sabbatical as erstwhile rock ''n'' roller while a member of Minneapolis''s Dear Machine (nee the Humans), he has homed back to the East Coast. These days he writes songs for himself while dreaming of writing more songs for himself and balancing his middle class inclinations and desires with his serrated edges, all the while with an ear to the struggle.
A WET COUNTY ALMANAC was painted form a discrete array of bed fellows: the utilitarian philosophy of Henry West, the lyrical storytelling of Nathan Cohen, the cascading heterogeneity of a cafe con leche poured from several feet above, the hard-nosed, blue collar play of Jorge Posada, combined over a roux of alcohol (the Universal Solvent) and crisp fall days. It is derivative in the best and most honest sense, believing in the mastery and wonder of form itself as well as the supreme unification of the Human Condition. Active listening encouraged.
