Details:
Grammy-nominated composer Chris Maresh (pronounced MARSH) is a jazz bassist who has performed in venues ranging from small clubs to theatres and outdoor stadiums in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Australia.

In 2002, 2005 and 2006 Chris was named "Bass Player of the Year" at the Austin Chronicle Music Awards at the SXSW Music Festival.

Chris has performed live with: Bonnie Raitt, Michael McDonald and Pat Simmons of the Doobie Brothers, Willie Nelson, "Fathead" Newman, Ellis Marsalis, the Austin Symphony and the Laredo Symphony. He has toured with Eric Johnson, Abra Moore, Kelly Willis, and Monte Montgomery. Chris is a sought after session player in Austin, where he has recorded with artists including Grammy winner Eric Johnson and Grammy nominee Marcia Ball. Chris played on the soundtracks of Spy Kids 2, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and on music appearing in Michael, Happy, Texas, and Sliding Doors. Recorded performances include Austin City Limits shows with Monte Montgomery, Kelly Willis, and Eric Johnson, with whom he also appears on the DVD of the Eric Clapton 2004 "Crossroads" concert.

In 2001 his composition, "Rain", was nominated for a Grammy award (best performance of a pop instrumental). Chris played on this recording with Eric Johnson and Alien Love Child. In 2002 his first original jazz record, Tomorrow, was released and his first string quartet was performed by the Tosca String Quartet. In 2003 his first tangos were performed by Glovertango, and 2004 saw new tangos, a piece for string quintet, piano and percussion, called Silent Movie which premiered in a performance with Terry Bozzio on percussion, Steven Barber on keyboard, Chris on acoustic bass together with the Tosca Strings at the One World Theatre in Austin, Texas. February 2005 brought the Austin CD release for Chris'' second collection of original jazz -- side street, a quartet made up of Chris on acoustic bass, Brannen Temple on drums, Steve Snyder on piano (the trio on "Tomorrow"), adding the fabulous Sam Lipman on tenor sax.

Chris toured with Eric Johnson for much of the latter part of 2005 across the US, in Japan, Europe and Asia and playing more of his own tunes with Eric Johnson & Tommy Taylor in the classic power trio. This same trio toured with Joe Satriani, opening on the Supercollosal tour.

2008 finds Chris playing jazz under his own name, doing some production, session work, and performing every type of music in Austin and around the country. Look forward to hearing more from him!
