Details:
Stephen L. Mosko, composer and conductor, was an important force in American music for over thirty years. Of the six pieces on this disc, five were written for Southwest Chamber Music between 1994 and 1999. Psychotropics is for "flute doubling everything in sight, oboe likewise, horn, viola and piano – a highly colorful and evocative piece. The String Quartet is also full of sonic extensions, harmonics, sul ponticello playing, col legno, you name it, all contributing to a texture of great variety and suggestion." Rupuze is an environmental homage to the disappearance of toads and frogs for the ravishing combination of various flutes and guitar. God Metot Enob(s) is an album leaf dedicated to Fritzie Culick, Founding Board President of Southwest Chamber Music. Darling, a tour-de-force for solo double bass, was composed in the 1970s, but remained unplayed until Tom Peters took the work under his wing.
