Southwest Chamber Music world premiered A Winter’s Tale instrumental version in 1993. This all Wuorinen recording establishes a new standard repertory of American compositions, for it represents multiple recordings for most of the works in question. This is the third recording of A Winter’s Tale. The Haydnesque Horn Trio and Horn Trio Continued received its world premiere on the group’s series. Phyllis Bryn-Julson and pianist Gayle Blankenburg round the disc out with the first recordings of A Song to the Lute in Musicke and Christes Crosse "a stitch, a spoof on classical themes handled with aplomb by the composer and virtuosity by the performers."
