World-renowned tenor Mark Bleeke joins the instrumentalists of the Folger Consort in music from Switzerland and other central European spots. Songs about courtly love and the benefits of Alpine herbs are on the program, along with lively music for medieval fiddle, viol, violin, recorders, lute, citole, harp, cowbells, hackbrett, trombone, bagpipe, hurdy-gurdy, Renaissance winds, and percussion, played by Robert Eisenstein, Christopher Kendall, Scott Reiss, Tina Chancey, and Tom Zajac.

Founded in 1977, The Folger Consort is ensemble-in-residence at The Folger Shakespeare Library, a leading center for medieval and Renaissance studies in Washington, DC. Its founding members are Robert Eisenstein (medieval fiddle, viol, violin, recorder), Christopher Kendall (lute, citole, harp), and Scott Reiss (recorders, hackbrett, percussion); Tina Chancey (medieval fiddle, viol, violin, recorders) joined the ensemble as performing member in 1996. Mark Bleeke and Tom Zajac perform with The Folger Consort frequently.
