Details:
Lifes Punishment is a solo recording project by Joel Jennison, based in Adelaide, South Australia.
A blend of Industrial, Metal & Electronica, Lifes Punishment may be comparable with the likes of Skinny Puppy, Ministry & Paradise Lost. Influences are varied and are not limited to those three examples, but we get to know each other faster this way.
Lifes Punishment was born in 2002 and slowly I began recording songs on an old Yamaha 4 track Cassette recorder. Armed with nothing more than a Playstation to sequence my drums, a couple of old keyboards and my trusty Bass, I crafted the debut effort "Tested on Humans", it was finally released in 2004 in a limited number of only 40 copies... all self produced & manufactured! I numbered all of these copies to ensure anyone purchasing this album would be making an investment. The album also came with a miniature sticker.
Because Tested on Humans was my first album, I was still finding my feet and what I was capable of. As a result it is a Dark, Gritty and somewhat personal record. In a few months, I was relieved of all 40 copies (some of which ended up in Germany!). I used the funds made from this album to purchase bigger and better equipment.
Between 2004 and now, the home studio has been growing and the evolution of the next Lifes Punishment album is in progress. Forthcoming "Loathe thy Neighbour" is set for release this year. A promotional Music Video for ''Nightmare Foresight'' has been made, and another is schedueled to be made for ''Digital Dolls''.
"Loathe thy Neighbour" will be released under "Jennocide records", an independent label that I run in my home studio. The 2nd band to appear on Jennocide records will be "Bastard Battalion", a Death/Black metal side project which has live aspirations to revitalise the local metal scene & re-introduce us back into gigging life.
My current goal is independently distributing and selling all 500 copies of Loathe thy Neighbour, once the physical copies are sold, it will only be available in digital form.
