For many years I recorded the natural world and folded these field recordings into musical settings. While recording these natural sounds the modern age often intruded on these recordings . I decided at one point it was time to face the fire . Although i have eulogized nature in song and instrumental I am also a person fascinated by speed , power and inferno - all things provided by the industrial age. The CD is a look at the inferno in a romantic an cautionary way. In many ways these pieces are requiems for an age of terrible beauty.
This CD was 15 years in the making as I gathered sounds from blast furnaces, mines, ice breakers , highways , lumber yards, trains etc.
