Details:
Edson Oliveira was born on November 28, 1950 in São Paulo State, Brazil. He started playing guitar just for fun when he was thirteen. He wanted to learn how to play Bossa Nova, the charming and recently established trend in Brazil.
There weren’t many guitarists capable of playing Bossa Nova in its beauty and complexity! But his love for Bossa Nova and Antonio Carlos Jobim’s rich, unique, and beautiful music helped him master the style, which he now plays with grace and proficiency.
In 1997, Edson moved to the United States and since then has performed in Oregon as a soloist and with his band Sun Bossa.
In April 2008, Edson finished his cd on Antonio Carlos Jobim music. Edson knows in his heart that no one can play Jobim’s music better than Jobim himself has done. That said, Edson keeps things simple by either conveying Jobim’s ideas or introducing a few ideas of his own. Edson’s guitar often sounds like a small orchestra from which you can hear lines suitable for violins, or cellos.
