Here''s how you make a fine wine:
Take a beautiful, nationally acclaimed singer; and songs written with Nashville''s best songwriters; played by some of the best musicians in the world; and blend them together with love and freedom in the purity of your home studio over a period of ten years.
Then bottle up the best moments - laughter, love, joy, pain, and storytelling - and let them age for a while. Now open these bottles one-by one. Let them breathe in your ear. Pour it slowly over your soul. You''ve never tasted anything like it.
Rancho Divine is such a place where such wine is made. Born out of the love and life of this amazing singer.
Caryl "Mack" Parker is a nationally renowned recording artist, songwriter and session singer. The Abilene, Texas native left home and followed her musical heart throughout the Western U.S. performing over 300 dates a year. She and husband, Scott eventually landed in Portland, Oregon for 8 years, where they were heavily influenced by the organic, musical sounds of the Pacific Northwest and honed their songwriting.
Caryl released her first independent album, "Smoke & Mirrors", with the radio single "First Day of Forever." After generating significant independent buzz, sold-out live dates, and major-market radio airplay, offers from major publishers and record labels soon followed. Caryl, Scott, and their young daughter, Jessie, moved to Nashville in 1994, and began to put down musical roots in Music City USA.
Shortly after arriving, Caryl was offered a record deal and recorded her first national album in 1996 on Magnatone Records. The self-titled album, "Caryl Mack Parker" garnered critical praise from such publications as Billboard Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, and Music Row Magazine. Critics called her voice “the perfect instrument” and her music “a masterpiece”.
Her music subsequently aired on over 130 major-market radio stations, with multiple Top 40 Adult-Alternative and Country-Radio singles. She was a guest on such braodcast networks as Sony Worldwide, AfterMidnight, TNN and Huntsman Broadcasting. Her videos received heavy "Hot-Shot" rotations on CMT and GAC, and she was a 3x guest on Prime Time Country.
She has also served as a staff writer for major music publishers Warner/Chappell, Hamstein, and Scream Music, and has written songs for such artist as Patty Loveless, and television shows such as “The West Wing.” She’s been a regular face at Nashville’s famous Bluebird Café and works as a session vocalist for many of Nashville’s top recording-artists and writers.
Caryl is married to songwriter/producer/publisher, Scott Parker. They are raising 2 beautiful kids (and various wildlife) on 8 acres at the outskirts of Nashville. The Parker''s Nashville studio, Dead Aunt Thelma''s, has also been the long-time home for recording artists such as Brad Paisley, Josh Turner, Daryl Worley, and many others.
After taking some time off to focus on motherhood, and rejuvenating her artist heart, Caryl is returning with a clearer focus and a variety of amazing musical offerings. She simply states her mission:
"To provide a quality experience that allows people to be refreshed and inspired by music that is passionate, soulful, and honest. And to ultimately help people discover their love, joy, beauty, humor and relevance!!"
This mission is evident in Caryl''s new album, "Rancho Divine," released 6/08. "Rancho Divine" is a compilation of previously unreleased, "cherry-picked," studio material from 1997-2007.
On many Sunday mornings, Caryl''s voice can be heard on Nashville''s Music Row where she often leads worship at her home church. In response to numerous requests, she recorded "Alabaster Boxes", a live worship experience recorded at Belmont Church. She also leads worship weekly for the Nashville House of Prayer.
Maybe that explains why her voice seems anchored in the heavens, while somehow remaining unpretentiously, down-to-earth. Perhaps it''s because now she knows her voice on the outside - from the inside. And after all these experiences, there is something present in her voice now that transcends time and place. It seems integrated, centered and equally at home no matter what the venue.
So may you indeed be refreshed and inspired, and experience music that is passionate, soulful, and honest. Maybe it will help you discover the threads of love, joy, beauty, humor and relevance that are woven inside of you!!
Be blessed...
