Annen Berg is a Pagan-Pop project from Portland, Oregon, combining the sound of 60''s harmony groups, European NeoFolk, and lyrics inspired by an occult and romantic earth.
While producing a ''sound alike'' of Simon and Garfunkels'' "I am a Rock" for a psychedelic independent art film "Tales of the TeleGods", composer Scott Jackson and lyricist/director Nathan Marcel collaborated on a new track "Wild Plant Stones", which featured classic 60''s elements such as electric 12-string Rickenbacker, intricate vocal harmonies, and poetic, nostalgic, pagan imagery. This first effort defined the direction of the Annen Berg sound, which has since the summer of 2005 produced over 25 songs between Jackson and Marcel.
The first complete Annen Berg song cycle "Followers of the Worm" is currently being recorded as a full-length album with producer Rob Oberdorfer at Friendly Ghost studios.
In February 2008 Final Muzik, an independent underground music label based in Udine, Italy released Annen Berg''s "Riddles of the Worm E.P.", which contains the first three fully-realized studio versions from the "Followers of the Worm" collection. The EP features Scott''s abilities as a multi-instrumentalist and arranger, as well as his considerable vocal range, which spans from a rich baritone to a clear, high falsetto.
Also on the recordings are vocal harmonies by Dave Mortensen, Jade Eckler and Pia Da Silva; Oren Selah on flute; and a drum Performance by Kurt Deutscher.
To celebrate the Final Muzik release of the "Riddles" EP, Scott embarked on a solo acoustic tour in Spain, Northern Italy and Holland. A limited edition tour CD entitled "All Things Must Last", containing 26 acoustic recordings and home demos was produced for the 2008 European tour.
Annen Berg''s single "Le Dernier Combat" was also included on "Mun : RecopilaciĆ³n Octubre 2007" by Mun Discos, an independent label based in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Annen Berg has been featured on "Disco Grande" on Spain''s Radio 3, Radio Onda Furlane in Udine, Italy and "Sideways Through Sound Radio" in New South Wales, Australia.
Scott Jackson has studied Classical, Jazz and Early Music composition at Portland State University, as well as Hindustani Vocal Raga at the Kirana West School of Music. Nathan Marcel is an accomplished writer, oil painter and film director with a Masters in Fine Art from Portland State University.
