Personal
Born in Alabama as the son of a career military officer, Dan traveled from military base to military base until age 15. Dan''s grandfathers, mainly ranchers, all played guitar, banjo and mandolin - and were Dan''s influence for picking up the guitar at age 12 and started performing folk songs at 13 to sometimes large audiences. Dan diversified in high school in the San Francisco Bay Area and played rock, soul, blues and jazz, but while in college at Chico State returned to his folk and country roots and played as a solo act for both small audiences and in large auditoriums. During Dan''s two years at Chico State he took first place in the annual college talent show both years. Dan moved to San Diego for graduate school and continued to perform in bars and restaurants during 4 years of graduate school performing cover songs of the main folk and country artists - as well as developing his own original songs. Dan now performs as both a solo act and with his band depending on the venue and audience.
