Review of Mind Blossom
dominic massaro (with a little help from bill burgess) takes a trip into kaleidosonic soundworlds. Unpredictable swirls bloom from mind Blossom, where smeary vocals, guitar strands, miscellaneous twinkles and more are stirred by slightly roughened rhythms, then followed by even-trippier, though less-drummy, orange Sunshine. 4 a.m. seeps into sweeter territories, just lushly spiraling in a soft vortex of wavering tones, strumming strings and barely-there click-track percussion. Mind-melting urban Decay/color of the Sunset (7:22) boils with weird ripples and altered vocal states, while distorted strings skew and plink amongst a flow of other eclectronic effects (though eventually laced with prettier skystreams).
Bass-pulsing bitterSweet (3:19) is another acid-drop of disembodied voices (some coming from andie burgess), energy drones, tie-dyed colorslurs and agitated guitartronics. Somber/surreal suspended Animation precedes hazily jangle-storming melancholy Symphony, which isn''t all that melancholy, but a spewing rainbow of guitar and voice radiance, which does get "symphonic" as the track segues into closing passage, zero gravity. The nine ever-morphing tracks of mind Blossom make for 42 minutes of neopsychedelic"turn on, tune in" listening... nicely done...
