Vejea (Vee-Jay) Jennings is a Caribbean-American writer, journalist, and poet born in Los Angeles. With a MFA in Writing from the California Institute of the Arts and a BA in Human Development from the University of California San Diego, Vejea is committed to empowerment through self-expression, education, activism, and entertainment. Appearing on stage with the likes of Jesse Jackson, Quincy Troupe, Edward James Olmos, Tony Award-Winner Reg E. Gaines, Malcolm Jamal Warner, hip-hop acts: Zion I, Aceyalone, and LA Symphony; Vejea’s work has been seen across the United States at the 2002 National Slam Championships and on the Souljahz’ album “The Fault is History” (Warner Bros./Word Records). In addition to being featured in ASCAP’s Playback Magazine, The Caribbean Writer, Entertainment Today, The Graffiti Verite Documentary Series, and on RadioActive San Diego, 2005 marked the debut of his album entitled “Soulation: Autobiography of a Breath”. Currently, he teaches at a community college and is a freelance journalist, writing primarily for Entertainment Today.
