Details:
Trio WAG, born in 2001, was originally Walt Szymanski''s idea. The three musicians (Walt szymanski, Alex harding and Gary wittner) were playing at a session in Brooklyn, NY with 3 horns and a full rhythm section including bass and drums. Walt had been thinking about applying for a State Department Jazz Ambassadors grant that was specifically designed for trios, celebrating the music of Louis Armstrong. Somehow Walt was able to hear in his mind''s ear the combination of bari sax, guitar and trumpet as a viable, working trio.
Since then, Trio WAG has toured twice for the State Department, first going to Serbia, Montenegro, and Slovenia (the first cultural exchange between the Balkans and the USA since before the beginning of the civil war in the 1990''s), and then traveling to Papua New Guinea and Fiji.
Additionally, Trio WAG performs in clubs and festivals throughout the New York area and the Eastern United States. The group''s music embraces many styles including New orleans, Swing, Blues, Latin, Post-Bop and Free Jazz.
Fun at the Factory is Trio WAG''s first CD release, have fun!
