Details:
Steve Haynes is from Liverpool, England, and was the lead vocalist/front man for the legendary 70''s British Rock band "Hustler." Hustler was signed to A&M Records in 1974, with Steve lending his unique vocals to the band''s two album successes, "High Street, and "Play Loud" (produced by Roy Thomas Baker, of Queen fame). Under the A&M Label were also Humble Pie, The Police, Karen Carpenter, Chris Deburgh, Supertramp, to name but a few. In the 70''s Hustler played many tours in England and Europe, supporting bands like Queen, Status Quo, Led Zeppelin, and Rod Stewart. After Steve left Hustler, he signed with RCA in Germany. He also worked as lead singer in Manfred Man''s Earth Band, and with Roger Glover (bass player from Deep Purple) as lead singer on his project. Steve later worked at Manticore Records (Emerson, Lake & Palmers'' Studio in London). Steve moved to North Carolina in the 90''s. Though stardom has eluded Steve in the States, his talent is unmistakable and it''s only a matter of time. Steve is a class act.

We all have mothers.

"The Gift", Steve''s latest effort, is a reflection of his "mellower" side. The original idea of writing a song for all mothers was suggested by Chuck Gurney. As Steve puts it, "Next to Jesus Christ, the most important person in the World is your mother". He put a team together, consisting of lyricist Chuck Gurney (also the harp player on Full Circle 2DB''s "Pourin'' Out the Blues" CD—another project of Steve''s), and Pianist/Arranger Jay Seagrave. Having worked along-side some of the greatest keyboard players and lyricists around, Steve searched for people that could capture the depth of emotional and spiritual quality that the song called for. Jay and Chuck were the natural choices. Steve considers their involvement, and the whole process of bringing this song to light, to be divinely blessed. The full lyric is available on Steve''s website.

"The Gift" is a song that deeply touches all who hear it, and it is rare for the listener to not be brought to tears by its heartfelt emotion—as a local DJ can attest to, who cried like a baby on the air as he played the song for the first time. I guess he has a mother too.

"The Gift" is devoted to all mothers. As the song says, "She''s the gift of a lifetime, the one of a kind. The Woman I call Mother, the one so divine".
