Shaní Andrews (born in Brooklyn, New York) is from a cosmopolitan Caribbean heritage which includes: Barbados , Guyana , Panama , and Trinidad. She is currently a resident on Long Island, New York. Shaní is a composer and arranger as well as an accomplished flutist. She commenced study as a classical artist, adding jazz studies in high school studying with: Jimmy Cannady, Dave Burns, and Frank Wess. Her Bachelors in Music Performance is from Duquesne University (Pittsburgh, PA). She studied with Eric Kloss (jazz), and Wendy Kumer (classical) while at Duquesne. Thereafter, Shaní moved to Philadelphia, PA , to attend University of the Arts and earned her Masters Degree in Education. Upon completion of her studies in Philadelphia, she returned to New York and performed in area clubs as a soloist and with "Prophet" (her now defunct Latin jazz group). In addition, she worked on various recording projects. The call of academia beckoned yet again, and Shaní continued her studies at the City College (CUNY) where she was awarded a Masters Degree in Music Performance.
