MP3 The Gaslight Colony - ELECTRONIC: Trip Hop
Electro trip-hop born and bred in Tokyo. Fed on dark and deep bass, jazz-induced piano, and nurtured by lusty vocals. Great listening music.

The Gaslight Colony is a full-length album of electro-trip-hop produced by David Folkerson and independently released in Tokyo, Japan, in 2006. Reminiscent of a cross between Massive Attack, Underworld, and early Aphex Twin, the album features vocals by Aiko Mizuno, an accomplished jazz singer who takes an impressive turn on this project with her sultry, brooding and melancholic rendition of the songs. Mike Lindow (aka Manike), already a successfull MC (as well as being a gifted designer, illustrator and writer) makes a special guest appearance on the track "Ventilator". Additionally, Marc Carpentier, well known for his previous V.J. work with Musique Plus and now as a broadcast specialist with NHK, provided additional mixing.
The following quote is from Japanzine, ''Japan''s National English Magazine'', from its March 2007 issue: "One of the top 10 foreign bands in Japan... Find yourself a dark, candle-lit bedside. Couple of junkies nodding out in the corner. Plenty of Moroccan black. ''Where''s my f@#&ing roach gone?'' The Gaslight Colony must''ve done away with it. Tidy."
