12 MP3 Songs
COUNTRY: Bluegrass, SPIRITUAL: Contemporary Christian

Details:
Blue Mountain Sunrise has been playing bluegrass since around 1979. We have played practically anywhere imaginable including corporate meetings, church services, family reunions, funerals, weddings, festivals, et al. With some live radio and TV appearances thrown in along the way.
Darrell Weaver is the only remaining member from the original lineup and he does a fine job of playing the resophonic guitar. Jeff Kiser joined the group to play rhythm guitar around 1980 and moved over to rockin’ the banjo in 1981. Roy “Danny” Kiser, Jr. has excelled at singing lead vocals and laying down a great rhythm guitar since 1983. And Randy Kiser has kept our timing together by playing a smooth bass since 1985. And yes, the Kiser boys are brothers and Darrell is a first cousin which makes the core group of today a family band. And we really like it that way!!

The band name “Blue Mountain Sunrise” is a reflection of the beauty we see every day in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia where we all reside near the Blue Ridge Mountains. The original song “Blue Mountain Sunrise” was written by Jeff Kiser to describe memories of the area and life around the small town of Stuarts Draft during his formative years.
“The Valley” by R. Douglas Hackney who started the band, describes the beauty of the seasons here and gives thanks for family and friends to share beauty and love with.
Grandmother Edna Kiser (deceased) was an inspiration to all the Kiser brothers and her admonition to “Just Keep On Keeping On” when the going got tough inspired Jeff Kiser to write the song with that title.
R. Douglas Hackney was on the road a lot in his occupation and the song “Staunton City Blues” reflects some of the frustrations he encountered in that role.
“Free Indeed” was penned by Jeff Kiser after mulling over a Sunday School lesson which presented the fact that the only way to be truly free is to accept the Grace that God offers to us through Jesus Christ and accept the free gift of salvation.
The members of Blue Mountain Sunrise strive to be “Walking Hand In Hand With Jesus” each day. As Jeff Kiser wrote in the song, we accept that we are sinners, but through God’s grace we can be made acceptable to Him.

The CD “Grastic Measures” is rounded out with old traditional songs from long ago that are a whole lot of fun to play and listen to. We added some interesting structural changes at times to keep them interesting, and we sincerely you will thoroughly enjoy every song presented.
