"The focus and beauty of the work stunned me." --The Seattle Weekly
This critically acclaimed music drama draws on the last days of the life of Medieval Humanist Thomas More before his execution at the hands of King Henry VIII. Rather than follow a literal interpretation of an historical situation, The Passion of Saint Thomas More is a meditation on the integrity of More''s sublimely difficult decision to remain true to his convictions. The hypnotic music is based on a simple Norwegian folk melody that plays off of the rich, mesmerizing sounds of Indian Harmonium, and ritualistic drumbeat of the Dumbek. The Seattle Weekly''s Philippa Kiraly comments: "Fisher has pulled off an unlikely feat: a compelling Medieval-style mystery play which has the feel, the faith, the strength, and the simplicity of the original genre."
