The Coyote’s Call is the sophomore effort of Texas Singer-songwriter Matt Koger. Koger’s 2006 debut, Blackland, earned him honors as a finalist for a Texas Music Award in the Rising Star category. Returning with 14 original tracks, Koger continues to paint pictures of life drawn form stories he’s heard and people he’s met. Koger has aknack for story-telling that shines in El Coyote, Mobile Bay, Blackland Reprise, and The Pony Song. If its humor you want, look no further than The Poultry Judgement Day a song in which the chickens may get the last laugh. There are tender ballads like Ramblin’ Rose and the tribute to his wife, Me&U. Tomboys, hangovers, horses, death, love, salvation and yes, chickens, this album covers it all. The tracks are studio cuts with the exception of the autobiographical Back to the Sea that was recorded solo at Koger’s lake cabin.
