The songs are listed here with some of the styles.
1. Wild Man – jazz, blues, reggae, roots, rock
Island percussion punctuated by piano and a psychodelic moog.
2. One of These Nights –rock, blues, roots, fusion, jazz
Thumping rhythm builds tension. Funky clavinet and a haunting rhodes space out this story of a guy on the edge.
3. Be My Girl – pop, rock, fusion, jazz, roots.
Soaring moog accents the tales of someone who falls in love with a friend.
4. Object of Desire – jazz, rock, funk, roots,
Emphatic bass makes this trip to the dark side easy, some cool piano licks complete the scene.
5. Cleveland Blues – blues, jazz, rock, roots, novelty
Serious blues piano compliments this lament about Cleveland sports.
6. Lawyer – pop, rock, jazz, blues, roots, novelty
Spoof on legal biz features best (first) kazoo solo since Jimi on Crosstown Traffic
7. John’s Theme – jazz, blues, fusion, rock, instrumental
Jazz flavored ditty with killer rhodes. Unusual rhythm section.
8. Heather – jazz, fusion, blues, rock, instrumental
LambBone’s remake of drummer Billy Cobham’s song is both beautiful and moving.
9. Nothing – jazz, fusion, rock, blues
Those girls sure know what to do about everybody’s man but their own. Nice moog solo, driving rhythm section from the clavinet and rhodes.
10. Hero – pop, rock, jazz, roots
Who is really a hero? LambBone’s answer is stripped down to just piano and vocals.
11. I Got the News – blues, jazz, bossa nova, samba, rock, roots
A latin-blues-jazz tinged celebration to cap the CD. Except the guy doesn’t get the girl.
