Melodies
This album consists of the most melodic works in Branimir Krstic’s guitar output. Led by two common frustrations of a contemporary composer - the inability of the audience to whistle his tunes on their way home (for being too complicated), as well as the inability to enjoy the film’s music as much as the film itself – Branimir created “Soundtrack.” This collection of themes easily lends itself to cinematic situations, much as did “Cavatina” by S. Myers (“The Deer Hunter”).
“Liebestraeume” is a neo-romantic composition of the type that guitarists sorely miss in their repertoire. The romantic literature for guitar cannot match the piano music of composers like Schumann, Schubert, Chopin, and other celebrated romantics –who have created much of the most beloved classical music. This original guitar work is rooted in Branimir’s memories of music by the great romantic composers, to which he added the shadings of whisper that only a guitar is able to produce.
“Two Preludes” stems from the time when Bruce Springsteen and Claude Debussy each equally influenced young composer’s mind. If such a combination sounds improbable to you, it is a sign that you must check this work out!
The collected guitar works of Branimir Krstic consists mainly of world premiere recordings. Brilliantly performed by the author, who also supervised every step of its production, the series not only introduces a unique and original body of work to the world audience, but also shows that the most suitable way to present such works is through creatively harnessing the power and possibilities of the internet.
