Hartwood:
This renegade outfit of Country western outlaws is living proof that there is more to the great Pacific Northwest than Microsoft, Starbucks, SUVs, grunge, heroine, and suicide. Since 1994, when Cleetus and Murl Hartwood recorded their first 2-man/4-track demos, the band has grown to a full 6 piece (sometimes as many as 9 piece!!!) outlaw country killing machine, and a regional favorite... in a region best known for rock and NOT country!
Their latest offering “Enumclaw” (named for the rural, but legendary community in the foothills of Mt. Rainier) spans subject matter from the familiar (Wanted Man, Sad Country Song) to the bizarre (title track, This Ol’ Methlab).
The live show these days depends on the venue as to what you will see, but is consistently unpredictable. Smaller rooms may get the stripped-down 6-pc “just the band” show, while rooms that can accommodate tend to get the full on 9-pc “outlaw orchestra”. That said: you never know just what might happen at a Hartwood show! The one thing you can count on is being thoroughly entertained.
Fans of outlaw country, bluegrass, honky tonk, southern rock, or even comedy, cannot call their collection complete without a copy of “Enumclaw”. Nor can they call their concert-going resume complete without seeing the band!
See for yourself: Pop a cold one with Hartwood!!!
"Enumclaw" offers a look at the plight of this country’s oft-forgotten and ever-growing lower class.
Hartwood’s approach is often brutally frank, boasting a cynacism born of experience. Their narrative of "the great American story" is generously seasoned with a dark sense of humor and clever word-play.
If you are a fan of classic outlaw country, bluegrass, honky tonk, comedy, or southern rock, Hartwood brings something for you in this collection of instant classics.
Also included are two bonus tracks:
A more “Enumclaw-ish” remix of the title track will tickle your funny-bone, and the holiday single (good year-round), “Mistletoe Beltbuckle”, details the exploits of St. Nick, looking to “empty out” his “sack”.
Be the first on your block to own this new collection of Hartwood gold!
