Details:
Cathy Hutch was born in New Brunswick, Canada and taught herself to play guitar by the age of nine. At eleven, she was writing songs, poetry and short stories, and also became fascinated with nature photography after seeing a school presentation by world-renowned photographer Freeman Patterson. Over the years, Cathy additionally taught herself to play the drums, bass guitar and harmonica, and went on to play those instruments in various top-40 and country rock dance bands throughout the 80''s. After a 15 year hiatus from the music scene in order to raise her profoundly autistic daughter Kristy, in 2005 Cathy returned to playing the drums again for a couple of locally popular blues bands. And in 2007, she rediscovered her previous love affair with the written word....and her guitar.
Soon, people were starting to take notice of Cathy''s passionate voice and evocative songwriting skills, and in the fall of 2007, while making plans to go to Nashville to record her debut CD, she met producer, B.J. McKelvie, himself the father of an autistic child. What happened next was a no-brainer....they co-wrote a powerful anthem about autism called "I''m In Here", recorded it as a duet on Cathy''s album, and their goal with the song is to raise funding and awareness to help change the future for all who struggle with this disorder. But that''s only one song on Cathy''s album, and there are 9 other terrific tracks!
The title song is another tune that tells a story. In 2007, when asked to play at a fundraiser for Chrysalis House; (a shelter for homeless young women who have been abused and/ or in trouble with the law), Cathy came up with this song from the viewpoint of a hypothetical young woman who might have gone down that road, and she''s - you guessed it - "Not Goin'' Back".
This album was recorded and produced in Nashville and some of the best players to be found anywhere in Music City are on it.....guys like Pat Buchanan, John Willis, Lonnie Wilson, Mike Brignardello, Gary Primm. Not to mention awe-inspiring backup vocals by Diana DeWitt!
If you like country-rock, blues, even good ol'' rock and roll, you''re gonna love this album!
