"Gerard Carelli is the First Combination Trombonist-Singer I''ve seen...."
Singer and trombonist Gerard Carelli is from New York. Gerard is a smooth and solid performer with a good attitude and plenty of experience. His relaxed style appeals to young and old alike as he croons and swings American Popular standards and his own strong originals. Gerard''s arrangements are by the best in business and are both challenging and enjoyable for musicians to play.
Originally from New Jersey, Gerard is a graduate of North Texas State where he was a member of the 1:00 Lab Band featuring Lyle Mays. He lived and worked in San Francisco before touring with The Ray Charles Orchestra. Since then, Gerard has been in New York freelancing as a trombonist and fronting quartets to seventeen-piece big bands.
Gerard Carelli has appeared at Lincoln Center for their Midsummer Nights Swing, Michael''s Pub, Firebird Café, Rainbow Room, Waldorf-Astoria, Irving Plaza, 92nd St."Y", and most recently as featured artist with the Colorado Springs Contemporary Big Band sponsored by radio station KCME. Of Gerard''s first album Beautiful Dancer, composer Cy Coleman wrote: "Gerard Carelli is a spectacular talent and his new album is the kind that I would rush to the store to buy."
His most recent release, Lucky to Be Me features pianist John Oddo, bassist Jay Leonhart and trumpeter Randy Sandke.
