Rubber Universe is a group of musicians first brought together in 2000 by the the music of the Alan Parsons Project, playing as the APP tribute band Projectronics. After five years, the concept was expanded into a project devoted to creating original music. The result is the debut album Parliament of Fooles, released in Spring 2008.
Parliament of Fooles is a concept album about dreams from cultural, psychological, and historical perspectives, and includes ideas and narrative text from Edgar Allan Poe, Geoffrey Chaucer, Freud, and Dante, among many others.
It is also a story of the struggle to realize dreams one has in life in the face of societal constraints, and how the Renaissance ideals of being a total person have been confounded by the forces of the marketplace.
And at the nexus of it all, linking the dreams one has while asleep and those one has in life is . . . imagination.
