His first gig was at age 14 with his parents, The Legenday Trudy Pitts and "Mr. C", opposite the Mercer Ellington Big Band, featuring Phillis Hyman on Vocals. On his 16th Birthday, he sang Rahsaan Roland Kirk''s composition "Bright Moments" at the The Village Vangard in New York''s well talked about section called The East Village, w/ Rahsaan Roland Kirk and The Vibration Society. Incidently, the version of lyrics that TC sang were written by Todd Barken, who was at that time, Rahsaan''s road manager, but now manages Dizzy'' Club Coca-Cola, located inside the prestigious Jazz @ Lincoln Center in NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK. Home of Wynton Marsalis and The Lincoln Jazz Orchestra. T.C.,III''s version of this song can be found on track 5 of this new cd, in which the live audience joins in for a little bit of "HI DE HO". A very beautiful ballad sang to perfection by TC and played especially tasteful by the legendary Gary Bartz on alto sax and the fanaminal Elmer Gibson on piano and strings. Elmer Gibson also wrote the arrangement for the Frank Loeosser composition,"IF I WERE A BELL", for which he accompanied the band on piano, and it is found on track 6, in which tenorman Don Braden takes a great solo. And last but not least, my good friend and mentor The GodFather of Jazz Vocalese, SIR. JON HENDRICKS, wrote the Liner Notes for this wonderful recording. Helping this CD to be A TRUE JAZZ CLASSIC COLLECTIBLE. This CD is truely a great asset for Jazz listeners from all catogories; The seasoned listener, the new listener and the inquisitive mind.
