Details:
Vince LaBauve is back and this time he brought his band with him. The Brotherhood of Love is just what it says it is. A musical brotherhood that started 28 years ago in Los Angeles, CA by Vince LaBauve, John Mitchell, Neal "Bucky" Williams and Thomas "Wayne" Archie. John Mitchell left early in the group''s genesis, which forced the group to morph into a trio, consisting of lead guitarist/vocalist, Vince LaBauve; multi-instrumentalist/vocalist, Bucky Williams; and drummer/percussionist/vocalist, Wayne Archie. On this particular CD, Williams and LaBauve share bass chores as John Mitchell was the original bassist. On some songs the bass is magnificently handled by Jerry "Pony" Abrams, who sometimes tours and records with the group. Over the last couple of decades, this group has done a lot of work, touring and recording individually and collectively as sidemen, with such artists as Barry White, Ike Turner and Mighty Mo Rodgers (LaBauve), The Coasters, The Drifters, The Platters, Freddie Cannon and Wolfman Jack (Williams, LaBauve and Archie), The Chambers Brothers and Screaming Jay Hawkins (LaBauve and Archie), Billy Preston and Sammy Davis, Jr. (Archie), and the legendary Arthur Lee and Love (Williams). Over the years, they were hardly able to make it playing as a band, so they had to survive working as sidemen. This CD is a culmination of ideas and songs that they have had in their heads and hearts over those years. They were finally able in the last couple of years to finish this CD which is a result of that music. Because of their busy schedules, this could very well be a one-off project, depending how well it sells, because they are still working individually as solo artists and sidemen to this day. If that''s the case, if you buy this CD, you may have just bought yourself a collector''s item. The meaning of the title "Real School Radio" is an answer to all this generation''s music fans, mostly to the "hip-hoppers", who call this type of music "old school". But since this music was made by real instruments and real voices, and is devoid of sampling, it can only be called "real school". The radio part comes in because of all of the influences and genres that you can hear in this music. Another good thing is if you buy this, you''ll not only have a collector''s item, but you will be helping to make history by buying the first multi-genre album released by one artist or group, another reason for the term "radio". Besides Pony Abrams, the other sidemen included on this project are Paul Auldfeld, keyboards; Sylvester LeBlanc, woodwinds; and Tony Viscarra, percussion and engineering. All other instruments and/or vocals are played by The Brotherhood of Love. So sit back and relax. We sure hope you dig it. God loves you and we''re trying... And now ladies and gentlemen, Vince LaBauve presents The Brotherhood of Love.
