Details:
This is the second album from the emerging Irish singer songwriter Anthony Toner. Produced by Clive Culbertson (ex-Van Morrison Band), it features memorable performances from Ireland’s top session players.
This new collection is his strongest work to date and features the bittersweet, standout, first radio single Sailortown, as well as the well-crafted Electricity and the Beatlesque love song Wake Up Holding Hands.
Anthony’s songs also cover subjects as wide ranging as disoriented astronauts, urban renewal, paranoid jilted lovers and Ian Fleming’s links with Northern Ireland!
Over the last couple of years Anthony has been working hard building up a loyal fanbase guesting alongside artists such as Frances Black, Brian Kennedy, Niamh Kavanagh and John Renbourn.
Late in 2007 Anthony attended the Northern Ireland Music Industry Commission’s Songcraft event, where he had the chance to work alongside and co-write with Beth Nielsen Chapman, Snow Patrol songwriter Iain Archer and JD Souther.
He was also asked to contribute a track to the forthcoming David McWilliams tribute album.
Anthony also writes for the theatre and last November he provided the acclaimed comic songs, incidental music and sketches for the Nuala McKeever stage comedy It’s Not All Rain and Potatoes, which opened at the Opera House in Belfast and toured across Northern Ireland.
He has also just been invited to deliver songwriting workshops and a performance as part of the Rathlin Island Writers’ Festival this autumn.
