EVANGELINE is a six-piece country band from Glasgow, Scotland. They have hit the road running during the past year, wowing audiences with their original country music. BEER TALKIN'' is the band''s first album and features 14 self-penned songs covering a wide range of styles within the genre. What do they sound like? Well, if you imagine Hank Williams meeting Garth Brooks at an Eagles gig in Glasgow, that''s not a bad start!
From the traditional country sounds of "Hanky Panky" and "Drink and Cocaine" through the honky-tonk energy of "Dirty Cheatin'' Man" to the driving country rock of "Fightin'' For My Eight Cents", or from the hoedown groove of "Burning Heat" through the beautiful "You''re Already Gone" to the hauntingly melancholic "Dark Skies", you can be sure there is something here to please all country music lovers.
Evangeline tips its hat to modern country, too, with "Shame On You" and "I Think I''ve Just Fallen In Love". The definitive Evangeline sound is captured on "Say You''ll Marry Me", "If I Can Let Them Go" and "Flying On The Wings Of An Angel", while "Run With The Devil" celebrates a unique fusion of Celtic stomp with alt-country attitude! There''s even a songwriter''s demo cut included, where Willie Evans (band manager and producer) performs his tribute to Harlan Howard, "03/03/02", as a bonus track!
This album is a timeless collection of country music which, while created in Scotland and digitally mastered in Nashville, will be enjoyed the world over. Evangeline''s work has already been acclaimed by some of the biggest names in Music City''s songwriting circles, and Beer Talkin'' is the living, working embodiment of what can be achieved when clever songcraft meets talented musicianship. Enjoy!
