Stefano Rossini was born in Rome; is one of the most appreciated Italian multi-percussionists (percussionist and drummer). He graduated from L’Aquila’s “A. Casella” Conservatory. He co-operates with the web musical magazine https://www.tradebit.com. He’s the founder of “Stefano Rossini Batuque Percussion” group, a project made to propagate and popularize afro-brazilian rhythms, personalizing them in a really spectacular way by using drums and percussions of different sizes and origins. In 2004 he has recorded a CD called “Stefano Rossini Batuque Percussion”, receiving accolades from the critics; the disc has been generated from an experience of many years on rhythms and combinations of percussions. He is co-leader of “Stefano Rossini-Gianluca Persichetti Itinerario Brasile”, based on a free interpretation of important Latin-American music authors. He has recorded two CDS: “Esperanto”, in 1998, and “Itinerario Brasile”, in 2005. From many years he’s been directing his research and his studies to popular music and particularly to the afro-brazilian one, propagating and popularizing the aggregative and high purpose of instruments and rhythms less known between popular percussion culture. He holds seminars and stages about percussion in Italy and abroad, taking also part to the International Stage, about Popular Traditions from Italy, Africa, Spain, Latin America, and Arabic world, named “Etnie”, in Marina di Camerota (near Salerno), on 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. Together with the guitarist Gianluca Persichetti he has created and realized “Brazilian Music Seminar”, a course of improvement and professional updating, recognized by the Ministry of Public Instruction, at its sixth edition. Director of the Faculty of Percussion at Rome’s University of Music, he works as a teacher at the Roman Academy of Music in Rome, a school recognized from the Town of Rome. He teaches percussion and drum at “Salvini Azzarita” Institute of Rome, under the project “arts and recreation in high school”. Since 1999 he is a member of Trio Samba Jazz of the guitarist Irio De Paula, in Italy considered the “master” of all afro-brazilian musicians, with whom he has participated on 2003, between many important things, at the Umbria Jazz festival and, in Tunisia (Tabarka), at the “Basilica Jazz Festival”.
