It was Christmas in San Antonio , Texas . My dad wanted to do something really special for his longtime friend and beloved housekeeper Maria Longoria. He was aware she sang in churches and that it was her dream to pursue music but that life had otherwise chosen a different path for her.
He also knew I was a musician and wondered aloud if it might be possible to record Maria while I was still in town. I explained to him that it was very possible but that it would cost about $700 to buy the bare minimum of necessary equipment. I could record Maria''s voice right there in his living room and fly back to California with the tracks, add other instruments and perhaps even make a record.
