This CD is dedicated to my wife of 35 years “Fran”. Our long trek together has seen many storms of many types, the storms of deception, foolishness, painful and self focused love to true mature deep, respectful love, the lonely songs and lyrics reflect the three of six years that we were apart. We tried Divorce but it didn’t work out! Hang in there young married people, sometimes it works out! Forgive.
Songs
#1 "River"
It’s a blues about what I said to my wife once we were serious about each other. Piano solo by Joey Fdelman and Sax solo by Larry Leannear II
#2 "Your Steps" is about missing someone who walks next to you.
#3 "Soft Summer Breeze" is the only song that I didn’t write on this CD. I loved arranging this tune by Eddie Heyward, the guy that wrote “Canadian Sunset” in the 50’s.
#4 "Sunlight Thru The Rain" is a song I recorded at home when I realized that the sun does shine thru the rain with belief in God and someone you https://www.tradebit.com remember the sun is always shining during the rain.
#5 "Hi and Lo" is about looking for someone who has gone away.
#6 "Get Away" is a song about a “workaholic spouse” or mate, and offers some suggestions for a day off bicycling up highway one or ballooning in Napa Valley. Northern California can be really beautiful along highway one going north, so…. Lets Get Away! Flute solo by Matt Eakel
#8 "I.D. Blues" revenge of the baby boomer! The new Millennium is here with all it’s uniqueness. This is a hip hop blues about living in recent times and the 90’s era. It''s about high pressure sales people, aggressive insensitive marketing. New products become obsolete so fast "it seems like everything that''s new is old before it''s through". Welcome to the information age!
#9 "Stop It"! Is my feeling after seeing children on crack and trying to teach them music in the 90’s. Hard drugs in schools are a menace to humanity! Guitar solo by Charles Spikes.
#10 "Responsibility" is a response to a question I asked the students about who will become a teacher and no one raised their hand. “Who will teach your children if not you?” We always need new teachers, don’t we? As of 2006 California is 37,000 teachers short hiring goals right now. I asked this question in 1988.
#11 "Well Done" is a blues about being single in a neo ranchero style, Rhonda Benin helped to format the song. The song is about two people trying to meet halfway.
#12 "A Matter Of The Heart" Rhonda’s blues about making choices in a relationship. Rhonda’s big band vibes and swinging style makes this a real finger snapper. That''s me playing the string bass, and doing my jazz thing.
#13 "Rock Witcha" is about day dreaming about past relationships and the futility of it all in spite of initial good intentions and hope. What?
#14 “OAKTOWN” a thing about leaving and returning to Oakland and realizing why you love it.
