Dussek: 16. Klaviersonate in B-Dur Opus 39, Nr. 3
The third sonata of the three part series, Op. 39 is a really descriptive example of the undisputable fact that Dussek had a significant influence on the development of romantic piano music. The composition contains his original remarks about the use of the damper, which assume a certain importance in the history of performance praxis, as Dussek is rated as one of the pioneers in the early development phase of that pianistic technique. Beethoven quoted the composition directly in his sonata Op. 10 No. 1. All together the work is of an amazingly charming quality, and, conceived in a rather eventful phase of the composers life, lends itself as an ideal complement to any classicalromantically oriented performance.
