Becoming a Christian Country singer/songwriter was never really a part of my plan. I started playing guitar when I was just a youngster. My musical influences for guitar were Chet Atkins and Merle Travis. In my teen years I started playing professionally.
I had the opportunity to tour in the era when Grand Ole Opry Stars would play County Fairs across the nation, and fill grandstands every night. I followed the guitar wherever it would take me and soon found myself in Texas, playing in a western swing band. In Texas my sense of music matured a great deal. I developed a true appreciation for the vocalist. Some of my favorites were Ray Price, Wynn Stewart, Willie Nelson, Johnny Bush, and of course you can''t play in Texas without Bob Wills and western swing.
For the majority of my life I played guitar or steel guitar with scores of groups that were each forgettable it their own way. I remember many nights sitting on the bandstand behind my steel guitar wondering who I was glorifying by doing this? At a particularly low point I realized that God had blessed me with some special talents and that I had let them wither away or wasted them in pursuit of the wrong goals. It was at that point I decided to do at least some of my musical work in His name. If God chose to use my humble talents for His purpose, then I would work as hard as I could to do my best for Him.
From that point on more and more new songs and talented people have worked their way into my life. To be honest, I don''t know where all of this will lead to. I only hope you enjoy my music as much as I enjoy creating it.
