AUDION magazine(#39 Dec.1997) Review of ELEMENTAL - "Lux Aeternae"
by Alan Freeman

"One Steven Stokes from Washington state, USA, "Elemental" is the moniker ofa synth musician working with both older and newer synth technology to create an aptly ethereal music that ventures onto bolder realms. Many of the tracks feature floating glissandi, arpeggios and pulsing waves, topped by vaguely melodic solos, all recalling Aeoliah at his best, as well as hinting at early Michael Stearns and Steve Roach circa his "Quiet Music" series.

But, that is not where all the music is, as sometimes the tension builds with some driving sequencer work, and there''s also a little Tangerine Dream creeping in. Firmly mid-80''s style, darker-edged, yet still bright and vibrant, this is synth cum new-age for those who want to do more than meditate, it''s for those that want to mentally fly away!"
