Details:
Meg Hutchinson wrote "True North" in 2001, and the first known recording of the song appeared on her 2001 album "Any Given Day" - a collection of live recordings from performances of 2000-2001. Due to popular audience demand for this song, Meg went into the studio in the spring of 2007 to record this new version of "True North," and is pleased to offer it to fans as a single download on iTunes and at live shows.
BIO INFO
Among Hutchinson''s influences are poet Mary Oliver along with the likes of Greg Brown, Patty Griffin, David Gray and Shawn Colvin. Her songs are characterized by a weathered but unselfconscious optimism, and a love of language and of the natural world. Having grown up in a rural town in the Berkshires, her songs possess all the ragged charm of Lake Wobegon, tempered by a sweet and timeless voice.
Scott Alarik of The Boston Globe writes, "Meg Hutchinson''s songs have a way of making us believe she''s telling the truth, at least as she sees it. In a brooding sea of inscrutable urban songwriters, her whispery, knowable voice feels like it''s sharing her secrets with us. Set to elegant, free-floating melodies that feel both modern and rooted, her lyrics are always seeking, if not actually finding, hope at the end of life''s dark tunnels..."
Meg released her last studio album in June 2004. "The Crossing," produced by Crit Harmon (Martin Sexton, Susan Werner, Lori McKenna, Mary Gauthier), is available in stores and online through her web site and at iTunes, Napster, MusicMatch, https://www.tradebit.com, https://www.tradebit.com, Best Buy, CD Baby, FolkWeb and CD Freedom.
Meg has recently finished recording her next album "Come Up Full," also produced by Crit Harmon. Hutchinson will release the new album in March 2008 on Red House Records.
