Even before enrolling in formal piano lessons at the age of eight, Ginger had an ever-present connection with the piano and longed to play even at a young age. As a child, Ginger and her little sister Sherry loved to dance whenever their eldest sister, Lori, practiced the piano. Their favorite, and most often requested, song for Lori was “Fur Elise” by Beethoven. Ginger vowed that someday when she could take piano lessons that she would play that very song. At Ginger’s first piano recital she performed two pieces, one being “Fur Elise”.
After a few years of piano lessons, Ginger felt confident enough to play musical numbers in church. The ward organist noticed Ginger’s potential and asked her if she’d like to learn to play the organ. This began months of both piano and organ lessons. At the age of twelve, Ginger was called as ward organist and she continued her solo performances in church on both the piano and the organ.
Ginger loved performing in church, and she could be found Saturday after Saturday scoring her favorite local sheet music store for new material. Pretty soon, however, Ginger felt like she had performed every piano solo hymn rendition available for purchase, and needed new material. The conclusion she came to was that she just needed make her own arrangements.
Ginger released her first album, SABBATH IMPRESSIONS, to the public in 2004 and sold thousands of copies worldwide. That same year, Ginger moved to Provo, UT to undertake her studies at Brigham Young University. Ginger has performed at such venues as the LDS Conference Center, the Governor''s Mansion of Utah, Brigham Young University, the University of Utah, and many other locations across Utah.
With a growing collection of newly arranged, as well as originally composed, pieces Ginger longed to get started on another album. She also felt an urgency to release her new pieces because of the huge response she received from the first album, SABBATH IMPRESSIONS. But between classes, work, and church callings, Ginger found she didn’t have the time or the resources to accomplish this task and planned that she would definitely release another album upon graduation from the university.
In August 2007, Ginger graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Marketing from the Marriott School of Business (ranked #1 by the Wall Street Journal as the best MBA program in the nation in 2007). She moved back to Salt Lake at the end of August and began putting plans in motion for her new album, SOLACE.
