Details:
The CrossCurrents are a California Central Coast band from Santa Cruz County, home of the Monterey Bay, redwoods and the lush Santa Cruz mountains.
Some members are veterans of groups since the 60s and have played on stage, radio, and on records with their bands and backing other artists, and one member continues playing on stage with her family''s band since she was 10. The band is more a studio band and weekly social club that has evolved from a stable of musicians that are on call for other CrossCurrents Radio Records label artists such as the famed American Primitive Guitarist, Peter Lang, and "singer extraordinaire" Gail Swain. The CrossCurrents have collectively over 140 years of roots music experience.
Playing originals and covers, The CrossCurrents are an Americana band with rich influences of the roots music. Their sound includes slide, finger-picked and electric guitar styles, with fiddle, mandolin, keyboards, harmonica, bass, drums and various exotic percussion instruments. Their styles cover folk (Freight Train/Boots of Spanish Leather), blues (Johnny Porter/Ahead of Your Time), country (Me and My Uncle/Jackson), rock (Knock Once/Everyday), soul (Bring it on Home to Me), instrumentals (Jenny''s Song/Living in the Country), and even elements of world music (Tzena, Tzena/Rigama Raga) and more.
An ever growing and evolving band, The CrossCurrents somehow attract listeners who simply like good, soulful, and honest music.
It’s hard to categorize The CrossCurrents, as it was the Band, Bob Dylan, and Ry Cooder once upon a time.
